Heart Shaped Tie Dye

The heart tie dye pattern is very fun and easy to do. With this design you can experiment with as much colours as your heart desires. It can be done on t-shirts, Cloth, Bags and the finished product is fun and colourful. 

 The materials you will need are: 

 1. Cotton t-shirt or cloth 
2. rubber bands 
3. washable markers or pencil 
4. permanent clothing dye 
5. squeeze bottles ( one for each colour) 
6. gloves 
7. Apron   
8. Latex Gloves                
9. Good water supply                        
10. Line (To hang the jerseys to dry)                                                                                          11. scissors 
12. Clothes clip                                                                                                                      


Step 1 
Wet cloth or shirt with water 

 Step 2 
Squeeze out all the water leaving the cloth or shirt damp
  

 Step 3
Fold damp cloth or tshirt in half, then outline the heart shape using the washable marker or pencil. 

Step 4 
Tightly pleat fabric along marker line. 

Step 5 
Using a rubber band tightly tie the pleated fabric around the marker line.

Step 6 
Tie fabric with additional rubber bands creating sections for each colour. ( create a section for each colour you are using) 


Step 7 
Squeeze mixed dyes on to each section. Leave the t-shirt or cloth in a tie bag for the amount of time directed on your dye package. 

Step 8
After the t-shirt has gotten chance to soak in the dye, remove the rubber bands and wash with cold water. Wash until the water runs clear.

Step 9 
Hang your washed t-shirt to dry completely. 


Step 10
Enjoy your beautiful t-shirt.

Swirl tie dye design

Step 1 Place a pre-washed, still damp (the fabric should not be dripping wet, but evenly damp as if it came directly out of the washing machine), t-shirt flat on a smoothed plastic drop cloth. Step 2 Pick a spot on the shirt and pinch some fabric to place between your fingers. Some use a fork in place of your hands but that has been known to tear the fabric if you are not careful. Step 3 Twist your fingers to begin the spiral twirl and begin wrapping the fabric around your pinch. Continue twisting until it resembles the shape of a cinnamon roll. Step 4 Rubber bands (or tied string) is used to hold the fabric together. Slide the rubber bands under and over the spiral so that the fabric will hold its shape during the dyeing process.
